Business Meeting Summary - February 2009
From the Winchelsea Lions 'business meeting of 18th February ;
- The Winchelsea Lions "chuck wagon" will be in action at the Wensleydale community's Auction ; all profits will be donated to the Bushfire Appeal.
- Chuck wagon banked over $2,800 in proceeds - not including $430 extra raised last weekend (14 February) specifically for the Bushfire Appeal.
- The Lions Club agreed to donate $1000 immediately to the Australian Lions Foundation (which responds to disasters on behalf of all Australian clubs). Further assistance will be provided in a couple of months time when needs have become clearer.
- The 2009 Youth of the Year is under way, 3 contestants will come along to the Winchelsea Senior Citizens in the evening of Wednesday 25th February to determine the local representative at the finals. The finals will be held at the Colac City Bowls Club on the 3rd of March. Winchelsea girl Abbie Floyd will be one of the contestants, for a second time.
- The contribution by Winchelsea Lions to Campaign SightFirst II has been gratefully acknowledged - "Campaign SightFirst II and the SightFirst Program are the most ambitious undertakings in the history of Lions, and I am grateful that you have chosen to be a part of these historic efforts. Your gift will help to provide eye-care services in communities around the world, from river blindness in South America to low-vision services in the United States. The generosity of our donors has already helped to save the sight of more than 27 million people. Through your gift, we will save the sight of many more."
