Victorian Bushfire help

After an Extraordinary club meeting, Winchelsea Lions Club decided not to take any immediate action in response to the devastating Victorian bushfires early February. The members felt that by waiting until a clearer picture emerged of who needed what and where, any funds raised or donated would be targetted much better. In addition, the District Governors will have been able to meet and issue their own response along with any suggestions and/or directives, ensuring a more co-ordinated response.

As a rural Lions Club, the Winchelsea Club leans towards assisting farmers affected by the bushfires, but are obviously open to any proposals. As soon as the Lions clubs in the affected areas are able to assess their own situations and draw up their own needs, the Winchelsea Lions stand ready to directly liaise with them to provide assistance in kind (eg. stock feed) or in funds.

In the meantime, donations will be gladly received by any Lions Club member eg. Tony Phelps at the Winchelsea Larder. Alternatively, donations can be made at the Winchelsea branch of the Bendigo Bank (or any major bank) or to the Red Cross.
