The Lions Club of Winchelsea was formed on 27 August 1958. It was sponsored by the Lions Club of Barwon Heads, and was the 127th Lions Club formed in Australia. In turn, the Winchelsea club became the Charter Sponsors of the Inverleigh-Leigh Valley Lions Club, and the guiding Lion was current member Rob Knuckey.
